I’ll be leading another tasting at 18 Reasons on Monday, July 18th, this time around taking an introductory look at Japanese and Indian whiskies by tasting three expressions each from Suntory and Amrut. While Japan’s interesting whisky history is not very long, they are certainly renowned for their version of Scottish stuff…unfortunately, very few are currently available here in the U.S. We’ll be pouring the Yamazaki 12 & 18 year old single malts, and the Hibiki 12 year old blend.
Amrut is perhaps the only distillery in India to produce a true Scotch-style, single malt whisky, or at the very least, it’s the only one that’s reached a wider, international audience. It’s also reached a high level of international acclaim. Unlike Japan, whose distilleries are located in climates similar to Scotland’s, India’s distilleries, Amrut in particular, produce products in a very warm climate which affects the production and maturation in a unique way. We’ll be pouring the Amrut Single Malt, the Amrut Peated Single Malt, and the award-winning Amrut Fusion.
18 Reasons and I would like to thank Impex Beverages for their generous support, without which this class wouldn’t be possible.
Monday July 18th, 7:00pm – 9:00pm 18 Reasons 593 Guerrero Street, San Francisco
Have fun with it! Hope you open up some folks’ eyes to the “other” whiskies!
